Staying in Love with our Industry
At this years Landscape Show we hosted a seminar with Bo Cook, Sophie Cameron and Rachel Reynolds discussing the highs and lows of working in our industry. The talk was lead by Sophie Cameron asking different questions to our panel about things that have gone right for us this year and things that have gone wrong.
We had a lot of feedback from fellow designers, that watched the seminar, who said it was refreshing to hear things that had gone wrong and what we had learnt from these mistakes as well as hearing how well our years had been. We believe it is vital to be honest with one another and to open up about struggles everyone may be experiencing – it is likely that someone else is going through something similar in their own company.
We also shared with the audience the ways in which our businesses had changed over the past year and what predictions we had for the following year with regards to where we see our businesses going. At Karen McClure Garden Design we are focusing on our team. Developing and growing our team at the studio to have a solid, sound structure on which to build the design studio on. We have 4 Garden Designers, an Office Manager and a Project Manager all working alongside one another to ensure that our projects run efficiently.
There are many reasons we love attending The Landscape Show. The seminars always hold interesting discussions and it is amazing to learn from experienced individuals who have been in the landscaping and horticulture industry for a long time. We always try and attend majority of the seminars so we can soak up all of the knowledge and experience others have to provide.
We also find it great to visit all of the trade stands that are at the show. We learn about new products every year and already from attending this year we have shown customers samples of products we never knew existed until we saw them at The Landscape Show!
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as the team here at KMGD did and we look forward to attending next year!
